Mudros Harbour
The WW1 troopships at anchor in Mudros Harbour, Lemnos Island.
It is interesting to note that the great majority of wounded in that campaign were taken in the ships lifeboats that were manned by merchant seamen to the hospital ships which were waiting of offshore. The merchant ships evacuated most of our troops from Gallipoli to Alexandria, Lemnos and Cyprus and then transported the wounded home to Australia.
